      Contract involves the supply by outright purchase for the design, manufacture, divivery, commissioning and support of new passenger rolling stock, comprising of 20 diesel powered passenger trains in 3 car 23 mtr long configuration 20 x 23 mtr long intermediate vehicles. The rolling stock is to be used to provide high quality inner and outer suburban commuter services and express services between Belfast and Dublin. The vehicles will be operating mainly within Northern Irelands network on 1 600 m track gauge. Associated with the divivery of the rolling stock, N I Railways will require manufacturers to consider, but not limit their considerations, to the following:

      1) Supply of Capital Spares

      2) Delivery of Maintenance and Technical Support options

      3) Supply of parts, components, spares and consumables to support 2)

      4) Delivery of all training and documentation

      5) Potential supply of a full size driver training simulator

      It is anticipated that the divivery of the first vehicle will be within 24-30 months of contract signature and divivery of all vehicles will be completed within 20 months. The trains should be designed to and constructed in accordance with relevant UK National Standards and EU TSI's applicable at the time of introduction into service.
