a) Construction of the Beverley Integrated Transport Plan including a new relief road, park and ride facility and other works within the Beverley area and may include elements by contractor design.

b) Construction of the A164 Humber Bridge to Beverley Route Improvement including improvements to 6 roundabouts, conversion of single carriageway to dual carriageway and new cycleway/footway on the A164 between the Humber Bridge and Beverley.

II.2) QUANTITY OR SCOPE OF THE CONTRACT
II.2.1) Total quantity or scope:

These arrangements relate to the construction of the Beverley Integrated Transport Plan and A164 Humber Bridge to Beverley Route Improvement works that shall be let as two separate contracts. The Council intends to form one tender list to tender for both contracts.

a) The Beverley Integrated Transport Plan contract is estimated at 28 000 000 GBP. The works are located to the south of Beverley and comprise design and construction of 2.8 km of new carriageway, mostly on embankment and two bridges, one of which spans the Hull to Scarborough Railway line. They include provision of a 500 space park and ride facility with terminal building, CCTV facilities and 1.4 km of dedicated park and ride access road. As an integrated transport scheme the works also incorporate the design and construction of various highway and junction improvement works within the Beverley area including roundabout improvements, traffic calming measures and traffic control systems.

b) The A164 Humber Bridge to Beverley Route Improvement works are estimated at 14 000 000 GBP. The works are located on an 11.7km section of the A164, between the Humber Bridge roundabout and the Town of Beverley. The A164 is the most heavily trafficked transport corridor in the East Riding of Yorkshire carrying between 21 000 and 35 000 vehicles per day. The works include improvement to six existing roundabouts, the conversion of 1.4km of single carriageway road to dual carriageway, provision of 6.5km of new footway/cycle facilities and safety improvements along the length of the route.

Estimated value excluding VAT: 42 000 000 GBP.

Description of these options: It is anticipated that the shortlist to tender for contracts for both the Beverley Intergrated Transport Plan and the A164 Humber Bridge to Beverley Route Improvement will be formed in April/May 2010. However these arrangements will remain in place for 2 years from the date of notification of the tender lists.
