    The welcome to the countryside project is being commissioned by Warwickshire County Council on behalf of The Coventry & Warwickshire Destination Management Partnership (DMP). The DMP brings together the public and private sectors to facilitate an effective and co-coordinated approach to tourism development and marketing Across Coventry & Warwickshire and is also charged with taking forward the effective governance of funding to support tourism development.

    The welcome to the countryside project is funded via the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE).

    And is contracted via Advantage West Midlands. RDPE is part of the European Agricultural project that runs from 2007 to 2013. It is jointly funded by the European Union and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

    The key objective of this tender is to:

    "To develop, coordinate and deliver a focussed rural tourism marketing and product development programme, which will benefit tourism businesses operating within rural Warwickshire".

    The project will involve working collaboratively with a range of tourism businesses and rural communities, taking into account their proposed marketing and tourism development activities and aspirations and adding value in support of the identified tourism RDPE priorities of:

    — E-tourism,

    — Green/sustainable tourism,

    — Festivals and events,

    — Food and drink.

    The ultimate aim of this project is to increase the volume and value of the rural tourism economy. A minimum of 12 new tourism actions as defined by RDPE Measure 313 will be delivered by 31.3.2011 and 6 additional new tourism actions as defined by RDPE Measure 313 will be delivered by 31.12.2012.
