  DFID wishes to engage a service provider to provide technical assistance under a programme of support to essential medicines in Burundi. The organisation will be responsible for:

  1) providing technical assistance to the Central Medical Store in all areas relating to drugs procurement, and to strengthen it's general management capacity. The Central Medical Store is a growing semi-autonomous organisation, soon to become independant; and

  2) strengthening the capacity of district pharmacies to better manage their stocks of medicines and commodities, and of provincial and district authorities to carry out their respective supervision functions with regards to essential medicines. Bidders must be able to field in technical assistance immediately upon commencement of contract in first quarter 2010. The working language of Burundi is French. General management consultancy services.
