    Short description of the contract or purchase(s)

    NIE Energy Limited (the Client) supplies electricity to around 790 000 business and domestic customers in Northern Ireland of which approximately 250 000 have an innovative keypad meter (pre-pay) installed. These customers can purchase energy from any number of local retail outlets, through the clients call centre, their automated 24 hour telephone vending service or via the internet. In addition to the keypad vending service the Client provides domestic customers with an account balance enquiry service and a bill payment facility.

    The Client wishes to consider options to expand the range of automated telephone and internet services on offer to domestic customers and introduce similar services, where appropriate, to 39 000 business customers.

    A pre-qualification selection procedure will be undertaken, which will include the issue of a Project information memorandum document which contains a Pre-qualification questionnaire.

    The selection procedure may also include the issue of a request for further information.

    Those companies who submit the information requested in this notice and the Pre-qualification questionnaire contained within the Project information memorandum by the deadline for receipt of participation requests will be considered for the pre-qualification procedure.

    Those companies who are successful in the pre-qualification procedure will be invited to respond to an Invitation to tender.

    NIEES shall not be held responsible for the making of payment for any costs or expenses whatsoever incurred by a company registering their interest in participating in the tendering procedure or incurred by a company in the preparation and submission of a tender or participation in the tender procedure.
