    Short description of the contract or purchase(s)

    Altmouth Pumping Station consists of: four large, steel frame storm pump inner penstock gates and associated operating gear which have already been refurbished as part of a previous Phase 1 contract. Four large, steel frame storm pump outer penstock gates and associated operating gear; two large, steel frame gravity flow inner penstock gates and associated operating gear; and two large steel frame gravity flow outer penstock gates and associated operating gear have not yet been fully refurbished.

    Works required under this Phase 2 Contract are as follows: the refurbishment of storm pump penstock gates and operating gear; the refurbishment of built in parts for storm pump penstock gates; the refurbishment of built in parts for gravity flow penstock gates; the installation of additional flap valves and openings into gravity flow penstock gates; and all other associated works.

    This work shall be carried out whilst keeping the pumping station operational, which will constrain the sequence of working.

    The Environment Agency shall not be liable for any costs or expenses incurred by any candidate or tenderer in connection with the completion and return of the information requested in this Contract Notice, or in the completion or submission of any tender.

    Precise information on deadline(s) for lodging appeals: The Environment Agency will incorporate a standstill period at the point information on the award of the contract is communicated to tenderers. That notification will provide full information on the award decision. The standstill period, which will be for a minimum of 10 calendar days, provides time for unsuccessful tenderers to challenge the award decision before the contract is entered into.

    The Public Contracts Regulations 2006 (SI 2006 No 5) provide for aggrieved parties who have been harmed or are at risk of harm by a breach of the rules to take action in the High Court (England, Wales and Northern Ireland).
