SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTRACT OR PURCHASE(S)

National Grid is keen to facilitate the connection of renewable gas supplies into the UK gas network. The injection of biomethane into the gas grid in the UK is in its early stages with a number of pilot projects underway. However the number of projects is set to expand considerably as the renewable heat incentive comes into force. This will provide a financial incentive to biogas producers to inject into the Gas grid over and above the market gas price.

In its current biogas projects National Grid has taken a bespoke design approach in developing the injection systems to inject the biomethane into the Gas grid. Moving forward National Grid is looking to source a number of suppliers for a packaged solution, rather than having to source the individual components separately.
