Work is to remove approximately 1 200 000 cubic metres (in-hopper) over a period of 6 months. Lot 1 will also include the possibility of additional dredging as required of fine sand or sand and gravel, carried out in the approach channels and disposed to sea.

Dredging maintenance silt from harbour berths and approaches using a small trailer suction hopper dredger for disposal at designated sites in Harwich Harbour as beneficial sediment placements.

Work is to dredge approximately 100 000 cubic metres (in-hopper) of maintenance silt and dispose of in sediment placement sites in the Harbour. The works have to be carried out in 3 separate operations between the beginning of November and the end of April each year.

Work is expected to take approximately 20 tides (6 hour periods around high water) but could be extended as required. This work is currently undertaken once per year in the early spring.

Additional information:

For the avoidance of doubt, this notice is for the establishment of a framework agreement. Tenderers will be selected onto the framework agreement using quality criteria which are defined in the documentation.

Tenderers which are appointed onto this framework will be invited to bid for work packages for maintenance dredging operations in Harwich Harbour and approach channel. The framework is intended to last for 4 years (unless cancelled earlier) and work packages are expected to cover periods of 6 months, though this period may be changed in the light of experience and at Harwich Haven Authority's sole discretion. As all the contract details and conditions are included in the framework documentation, tenderers will be given a limited period of time to bid for works packages and orders will be placed without further OJEU notices or stand-still periods.

Contractors will be selected for the work packages as set out in the Framework Contract Schedule 4 — Selection Procedure.
