In addition, other public authorities in the immediate vicinity are also scoped to use this framework.
The SEGfL is also launching its own procurement to establish a framework for broadband and related services via Bracknell Forest Borough Council (acting for the South East Grid for Learning (SEGfL). This is a complementary procurement to this opportunity.
The immediate aim of the procurement is to obtain a regional telecommunications infrastructure to serve the needs of the institutions listed in Section 9 of the pre-qualification questionnaire before the end of the contracts covering the current LeNSE network. The procurement is for a regional transmission network only, not a managed IP network.
The majority of the institutions have a single connection to LeNSE but a small number purchase additional transmission links under the existing contract for LeNSE. Any future orders for circuits that will be connected to the procured regional network will be placed by Janet(UK). In addition, a number of institutions currently have connections to LeNSE but might choose not to connect to the new infrastructure. The Operational Requirement (OR) document will confirm the initial order. With respect to use of the services to be procured more widely than within the Education Sector, the Janet Connection Policy defines the conditions under which any organisation may be connected to Janet. The present connection policy is available at: https://www.ja.net/products-services/janet-connect/janet-connections/terms-provision-janet-service.
