Nexus intends to replace its operational radio system used for signal box to train communications and also for communications between mobile operational and maintenance staff. As well as voice communications Nexus requires a data telemetry facility.
The radio system is currently tightly integrated with the Nexus Positive Train Identification (PTI) system and the on-train Public Address (PA) Systems. There is a requirement to reduce the level of integration between these systems.
The separation of the Radio and on-train PA systems into two discrete interfaced systems will be included within the Radio System Replacement.
The separation of the Radio and PTI systems into two discrete interfaced systems is also required. The PTI system is also being replaced and is subject to a separate PIN (
2012/S 155-259410 ). -
