II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s)
Coventry University Enterprises Ltd has completed a formal funding agreement, with the United Kingdom Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) to deliver a European Regional Development Fund project within the West Midlands region, entitled Technology and innovation futures West Midlands.
The project will operate over a three year period. The tender relates to the delivery of specialist business support services to SMEs within the West Midlands region and has an overall value of 820 000 of which 50 % will be funded by ERDF and 50 % of which will be paid directly by the SME beneficiary to the organisation contracted and appointed to deliver the support.
Organisations tendering for the delivery of the specialist business support services should be able to; conduct a specialist beneficiary diagnostic to determine the particular requirements of individual businesses identified for support through the programme and their potential to realise the outcomes identified for the project; complete a specialist diagnostic report for each beneficiary supported; provide appropriate business support and innovation consultancy to individual beneficiary SMEs of up to 10-days per business to support their uptake of new to market technologies in line with identified business growth plans; complete a detailed SME intervention report; complete a business support monitoring and impact evaluation report and report information on all support provided for beneficiaries to Coventry University Enterprises Ltd to ensure ERDF compliance.

Coventry University Enterprises Ltd is seeking organisations to deliver specialist business support services to West Midlands; UK based small and medium sized enterprises in relation to this project. Contracts will be for a maximum of 3 years.
The technology and innovation futures West Midlands project led by Coventry University Enterprises will support West Midlands SMEs, linking foresight and strategic planning directly to technology identification development, adoption and commercialisation.
The framework requirement for consultants to deliver high grade specialist support is divided into the below 6 lots:
Lot 1: ICT hardware consultancy.
Lot 2: ICT software consultancy.
Lot 3: design and prototyping consultancy.
Lot 4: manufacturing systems and processes consultancy.
Lot 5: quality control and measurement consultancy.
Lot 6: specialist expertise.
Suppliers to the framework must be able to deliver business support activity to SMEs located across the whole of the West Midlands area as defined within the West Midlands European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2007 to 2013 Operational Programme.
