The Council is looking for an experienced contractor to replace the seating at the Cliffs pavilion theatre in Southend.

The Contractor will be responsible for producing a seating design which retains if possible the capacity/flexibility of the existing seating arrangement. The current seating arrangement has a capacity of 1 630 of which 995 are removable. This flexibility must be maintained to allow for a freestanding area of 2 250. The contractor will be responsible for the manufacture of the seating, transportation and installation of agreed seating plan. Also included will be removal and disposal of existing seating, the preparation of the theatre, replacing carpeting if required, reviewing floor lighting requirements and final making good of all areas.

The theatre diary has been cleared during the period 16th July to 5th September 2010. The Contractor must be able to install the new seating plan during this time.

IV.1) TYPE OF PROCEDURE
IV.1.1) Type of procedure:

Accelerated restricted.

Justification for the choice of accelerated procedure: An increasing number of complaints about poor or broken seating at the theatre is affecting their ability to attract repeat business. This has resulted in a loss of income not only to the theatre but to other local businesses such as bars and restaurants which attract pre or post theatre customers. The complaints are mainly from elderly and disabled people. By replacing the seating it will help attract larger numbers of people back to the theatre to see the new seating and retain repeat business which will in turn help the local business community.

Southend Borough Council will be issuing the Cliffs pavilion theatre seating pre-qualification questionnaire (PQQ) using a secure electronic tendering system Proactis, and in preparation for this and also to enable you to participate you need to self register on the following link and register as a supplier: https://southend.proactisp2p.com/

An activation email containing an activation link will be sent to the email address you enter. Click on the link contained within the email to activate your account.

Once registered you will be able to access current and future scheme information, award details and download and submit bids electronically. Further information can be found at the end of this email.

Once registered as a Proactis supplier you must then register yourself for the tender opportunity using the below code in the Bulletin Board section.
